HOLIHAN TO CONTEST IN SYDNEY SUPERNIGHT EVENT

Daniel Holihan will return to racing at Sydney Motor Sport Park for his final race of the season. Initially the DHR/BM Motorsport squad had set out goals to compete in historic formula ford and formula ford 1600 throughout 2021 including running both cars at the Formula Ford Festival at Winton Motor Raceway, but due to the 14 week long Sydney lockdown all the teams future plans have been abandoned.

The new team debuted at Wakefield Park Raceway for the NSW Formula Ford 1600 Championship scoring a pole position and three podiums upon Holihan’s return behind the wheel. Although the third race was red flagged after a massive accident between two competitors, Holihan now sits 8th in the championship standings on 58 points. Team boss Barton Mawer commented “The team has done all the necessary updates to Dan’s Spectrum 011 over lockdown, including having a VBOX Full-HD race car camera system, all the recent updates to his Motec c125 dash amongst other things. We’ve done a lot to his car is to improve his race craft and driving style for future years to come, so hopefully we bring the speed and momentum we had at last the round that we competed in at Wakefield Park. Dan performed really well there.”

Holihan is excited to race in front of his family and friends next month, as he has also won and started on pole position at Sydney Motor Sport Park many times in past over his whole racing career. The teams official shakedown and preparation will begin early November including one test on the 4th around SMSP (Sydney Motor Sport Park).

“I’m excited to race again obviously this year hasn’t gone to plan, as we where hoping to do at least 6-8 rounds across New South Wales and Victoria but unfortunately COVID and the latest lockdowns put an end to all of that. Originally I was hoping to immaculate enough points to come from one round down to at least try and finish top 3 in the series but I highly doubt that’ll be happening now. So I’ll just enjoy the last race of the year for what it is and focus on trying to win the New South Wales Championship in 2022.” said Holihan.

The New South Wales Formula Ford field is expected to attract at least 20-30 cars for the season’s finale and will be televised on Fox Sports 506 on November 5/6.
