HOLIHAN'S 12 RACE PODIUM STREAK COMES TO AN END

Daniel Holihan’s podium streak of 12 podiums came to an end after a character building weekend at Wakefield Park in Goulburn. The wet, greasy and damp track proved to be tricky for all drivers. Holihan unfortunately couldn’t get it all together during his qualifying run, after he qualified on the last row of the grid.

Which put him on the back foot chasing the 8-ball the rest of the weekend after the session got red flagged. Whilst also getting caught up in a muddy excursion of his own. Race one saw his best finish of the weekend finishing 3rd from the last row of the grid.

“I can’t believe how badly I qualified this morning. I had an absolute shocker, after having such a great run last time out at Sydney Motor Sport Park. I think I put too much pressure on myself and became my own worst enemy today. I fought back in the first race but this championship will be extremely close all season. So finishing this weekend will be my main objective.” - Holihan commented.

Race two saw Dan Holihan sitting in 2nd before a minor mistake dropped him two spots behind his championship rivals William Lowing & Max Mason. Whilst in the trophy race Holihan could only manage 4th in the wet & slippery conditions. It’s now a three-way title fight for championship glory in 2022.

The Barton Mawer Motorsport team now has 3 rounds left to play for in the NSW Formula Ford 2022 Championship. The series has been blown wide open with only 3 points splitting the top 3 spots in the standings.

Team owner and Driver coach Barton Mawer commented - “Dan’s a tough driver, we all have our ups and downs in sports. No one is perfect and you never know what can happen in motorsport. That’s the beauty of it. He nearly had it all together in the second race when he was battling for first but, lost it at the last moment and spun. We will recollect ourselves for the last three remaining rounds and chase that championship. Will Lowing in that Listec is extremely quick out of the box at the moment. So we have a lot of homework to do if we’re going to keep up with him. As long as we don’t DNF we will be on the right path and be in contention for the championship.”

Holihan is the most experienced racer between the three drivers, having over 20 years experience. But at the moment he’s racing two hungry teenagers who both are fighting for a driving career. So whomever wins it in 2022 rightfully deserves the NSW Formula Ford State Championship.
